Morning Meditation: Dr. S.T. Churn

Old Testament Gen. 4:16

Dr. Churn spoke about Cain and Abel.

After the judgment of God Cain located himself east of Eden a place called Nod.

Cain has no ties. The problem with him was a lifestyle of envy, jealousy.

Nod was a place of no attachments: families, children, and no sense of community or identity.

He turned his back on God.

Wonder could it be that he somehow turned back to God. In the topography of our hearts tells us at times we are in the land of Nod. He brought forth a challenging and provocative message.

Old Business:

President Edwards spoke about Bill 1392 that will penalize the elderly and persons who pay their tithes to the Church. They will be asked to use this money to pay for medication. He asked us to contact our Congressman and to vote NO to this bill.

Chris Bowman reminded everyone about the Thursday meeting at St. Mark Baptist Church from 6-8:30 p.m. He also spoke of Summer Youth employment at Urban League, request to match funds for City Council. The Urban League wants to contact corporate sponsors to raise money for Summer jobs, according to Mr. Handsberry, the Conference is not in favor of the matching funds proposal and sought to contact Mr. Handsberry with the Urban League, he was contacted and spoke on how to raise $33,000 matching funds for the Summer Youth Employment Program, which would also include a mentoring program, by contacting other Corporate sponsors. After much discussion, the Ministers’ Conference wants to give its support, but not actually engage in the fund raising process.

Rev. Saunders reminded everyone of the May19th Golf Tournament. Sponsorship is due now. Some monies have been received, and all are asked to complete their sponsorship.

An announcement was read from the Lott Carey Association.

The Order of The Day: Rev. Linda McCrae of Little Salem Christian Church, a graduate of Wake Forest University.

Subject: Mission Possible – Matthew 28:18.

Our Mission is clear, it does not self-destruct. We are to further the Kingdom of God.

We need to allow God to have dominion over us; God knows what’s going on. We need to hear and obey, God is speaking.

2. We have to love one another.

3. Go into the entire world and preach the good news, God is concerned, even to people on the corner. We should be living lives that glorify God. Not talk high but live low. Live righteous lives and come into relationship with God. We have to go and tell the story the good news of Jesus Christ. Get up and go with the love of God, the Mission is Possible.

The message was very though provoking and challenging.

The Conference voted to give Rev. McCrae a rising vote of thanks.

The offering today was $ 90.00 and 32 were in attendance.
