Dr.
Rowdy led hymn #27, ‘Blessed Assurance’ and introduced the order of the day. Bishop.
Sherwood Davis is the pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, WS.
Bishop. Davis spoke from the subject, This
Gospel, focusing on Matthew 24:14. Despite all that happens in this world,
Davis reminded us that we still have the mandate of Jesus: to preach the gospel
of the kingdom to all nations. Davis says we’ve been directed to do business
without God’s sanctioning. We are attempting as leaders to stand without
letting the powers that be know that we are standing for God. Davis encouraged
the conference to be as the Bible prophets were; for they would say that God
had sent them!
Bishop. Davis says that when we want
to establish our own little kingdoms, we must remember that there is but one.
He says this gospel is a story of a King and His kingdom; a divine
monarchy. When the gospel is taught in all its fullness, it gives the church
spiritual vitality. It causes the church to be reproduced in this world. Davis
says that when the gospel is preached, people listen and obey. He challenged
the conference not to forget the Gospel in business we attempt to carry out.
The body rose to give Bishop. Davis a rousing vote of thanks for
his message.
